Local Success: Trial Courts
Below are trial court victories of our subscribers as reported on SADO’s Forum—an online community for criminal defense attorneys.
Beth Greenberg Morrow won not guilty verdicts on all counts, August 2, 2021, in the 3rd Judicial (Wayne County) Circuit Court, in a case with multiple charges, including felony murder, second-degree murder, and several arson counts.
Jennifer J. France had multiple successes among her cases, including a removal from a tether, habitual offender plea with a 12-month county cap, and withdrawal of a guilty plea.
Mary Chartier secured three exonerations. Her firm, with extensive work by the University of Michigan Innocence Clinic, secured two exonerations for “shaken baby syndrome” convictions; a third exoneration, for a person wrongly convicted of murder, allowed the exoneree out of prison after 26 years.
Joshua Rubin recently had a hung-jury in a 3-count CSC2 case in the 31st Judicial (St. Clair County) Circuit Court; the prosecutor subsequently dismissed the charges.
